The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans bring their season home tomorrow, and at their first game of the season at the Cairns Convention Centre, ten lucky finalists will vie to be the winners of the Golden Ticket.
The Golden Ticket is an impressive culmination of businesses in Cairns coming together to give a Taipans member the ultimate award – a collection of prizes, experiences and VIP invitations to club events.
Fans signed on as a 2016/17 Cairns Taipans member are automatically entered, with the number of entries determined by the level of membership.
Ten finalists are randomly selected that will have the opportunity to “unlock the key” on centre court before tip-off, with the winner to be ushered to the best seats in the house – their new corporate box for the rest of the season.
CEO Mark Beecroft said that the Golden Ticket is used to show the club’s appreciation of the “Orange Army” faithful, while showcasing the best that Cairns has to offer.
“The members and fans are the backbone of the Cairns Taipans, and this annual competition is a reflection of how connected the club and the community really are, and that extends to the local businesses within it,” Mr Beecroft said.
“We are very proud that so many of our corporate partners want to reach out to our fan base and offer such generous prizes. This season sets a new standard of Golden Ticket giveaways and we hope in the future it continues to grow.”
Event Cinemas, Skyrail, Big Cat Green Islands and Pullman Cairns International are just a handful of businesses that have partnered with the club to piece together the enviable prize pool.
Event Cinemas General Manager Andrew McNicol said he is thrilled that Event Cinemas Cairns had the chance to closely align with the Taipans, contributing a year’s supply of movie tickets.
“We were more than happy to join the Taipans and be involved with the Golden Ticket this year. Cairns boasts a vivacious community that love to get out there and experience all that the city has to offer,” said Mr McNicol
“Our prize provides the extremely lucky winner the ability to get up close to the basketball action during the NBL season, and then visit Event Cinemas at Cairns Central to continue enjoying premium entertainment all year long.”
The finalists will be drawn progressively leading up to the game tomorrow (announced via @CairnsTaipans on Twitter) with the first wave revealed as: Jacinta Shore, Rob Miller and Marylyanne Whittaker.
